Nahan
Mise en ligne de 40 000 documents
Site : https://nahan.huma-num.fr/
Dear colleagues,
With the recent successful harvesting of the DAI’s North African archive, particularly that of the late Friedrich Rakob, the North African Heritage Archives Network now hosts over 40,000 images and documents, contributed by the DAI, the CNRS laboratory AOROC, the British School at Rome, and the British Institute for Libyan and North African Studies. It is thanks to the teamwork between the AOROC Digital Humanities Division and the partners of the NAHAN network that this formidable task has given us a great proof of concept and paves the way for future efforts. Work on a further series of archives from the DAI (Christa von Hees-Landwehr fund) and the Centre Camille Jullian at the University of Aix-Marseille is now underway.
Please visit the multilingual, map-driven site (https://nahan.huma-num.fr/) and get in touch with ourselves or Agnès Tricoche, website and data manager (agnes.tricoche@ens.psl.eu) if you are interested in contributing : we will be happy either to harvest archives, or to house them in a sustainable fashion and to promote them. We collect documents of all types (see, for example, the records of the excavations at Rapidum and the extraordinary collection from Sabratha).
This is a collective effort that aims to make the memory of North Africa’s past - of all periods - available to all. Do join in !
With best wishes,
Lisa Fentress
